Hello,

it's Sam from SB Creatives Photography here.....

In the quiet corners of history, lie stories often untold. Stories of resilience, of courage, and of those who, despite their struggles, left an indelible mark on humanity. Remember The Yom, an initiative that resonates deeply with the soul, is a poignant reminder of the lives lost during the Holocaust, particularly focusing on those with disabilities. As a photographer privileged to capture this solemn event, I found myself immersed in a journey of remembrance, reflection, and reverence.

The Holocaust stands as one of the darkest chapters in human history, where millions of lives were extinguished under the shadow of hate and prejudice. Among those lost were individuals with disabilities, often marginalized and overlooked in the narrative of remembrance. Remember The Yom seeks to shine a light on these forgotten souls, ensuring their stories are not consigned to oblivion.

Photographing Remember The Yom was not merely about capturing images; it was about encapsulating the essence of remembrance. Each photograph became a testament to resilience, a visual narrative of lives interrupted but never forgotten. Behind every lens, I felt the weight of history, the echoes of silent voices yearning to be heard.

One of the most profound aspects of Remember The Yom is its commitment to inclusivity and representation. As I navigated through the event, I was struck by the diverse array of faces, each bearing its own story of loss and survival. From poignant portraits to candid moments of reflection, my camera became a conduit for storytelling, preserving the legacy of those who could no longer speak for themselves.

But Remember The Yom extends beyond the confines of history books; it is a living, breathing testament to the enduring impact of remembrance. Since the 7th of October 2023, the initiative has continued to honour not only the victims of the Holocaust but also those who have perished in subsequent atrocities. From genocides to acts of terrorism, Remember The Yom serves as a beacon of hope in a world plagued by darkness.

As I reflect on my journey as a photographer for Remember The Yom, I am reminded of the profound power of storytelling. Through the lens of my camera, I bore witness to the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring legacy of those who came before us. In a world often marred by indifference, Remember The Yom serves as a clarion call to never forget, to always remember, and to honour the unseen.

In the end, it is not merely about the photographs captured or the moments preserved; it is about the collective memory we carry forward, the torch of remembrance we pass on to future generations. Remember The Yom is not just an event; it is a testament to the enduring power of empathy, compassion, and the unwavering belief that even in the darkest of times, light will always prevail.

Until Next Time...
